an outlet - a shop that is one of many owned by a particular company and sells only the goods produced by that company. In the UK outlets often make up the large (sometimes discount) shopping centres away from city and town centres

an inquiry - an official process or investigation to discover the facts about something (often bad) that has happened
a backlash - a strong feeling in reaction to recent events or a tendency (often in society or politics)
to undercut - to charge or pay less than
to curb - to limit
the proliferation of - the spread or growth of
re-brand - verb - renew the image of a commercial product
a corner shop - a small local shop
impoverish - make poorer
to turn into - to become
clone - noun, may indicate some sense of disapproval - that looks very much like someone or something else
