Helping Dad

A couple walking down a country lane see a young farming lad struggling to load hay onto an upturned cart it had fallen from.

"You look very hot, lad" says the woman, "take a rest"

"Oh, no I had better not" comes the reply, "Dad won't like it."

"No thanks" replies the lad, "Its kind of you, but Dad won't like it."

"Don't be silly," the woman continues, "Everyone is entitled to a break. Have some water and a rest."

Losing patience, the man says "Your father must be a real slave-driver, a cruel man. Tell me where I can find him and I'll give him a piece of my mind!"

"Well," replies the youth pointing to the upturned cart, "he's under the hay.........."

"But you look tired out" says the man.

"Just rest for a moment, and then I'll give you a hand."

"Best not" comes the reply, "'cos I know Dad won't be happy if I stop".
