Running short

Two men are out on a pleasure trip in a private aircraft.

As they prepare to land, the pilot looks out at the runway and shouts in fear

"Good grief, I can't land there. The runway's miles too short!"

The navigator grabs the aircraft manual and recommends some incredibly dangerous manoeuvres to enable a landing.

Horrified, the pilot realises that time and fuel are short, and he will have to perform the most amazing stunts in order to give them both a chance of survival.

The pilot manages to land the aircraft after some frightening stunts, finally bringing the 'plane to a shuddering halt on the very edge of the runway.

Finally, the pilot becomes annoyed and shouts aloud "Of all the grossly stupid, short runways! It's ridiculous!"

In complete silence, both men catch their breath and thank their lucky stars.

"Absolutely" agrees the navigator. "So short, and yet enormously wide............"
